Started the process of gutting my telecaster. I’m sad because one of the wires snagged and pulled out of the pick up so there isn’t any going back now.
The next mystery is how I’m going to cover the humbucker routing with the standard sized bridge on there. I’m either going to have to fill it in OR I might try to attach a humbucker to single coil conversion ring into my current bridge. I need to see if the local shop has them in stock though.
I decided to ditch the Twisted Tele pick up (found on the newer american standards) I love, love, love it but - I decided to go with a set of Fender N3 Noiseless pick ups (no s-1 switch I don’t think). They break up BEAUTIFULLY with overdrive and the neck stays pretty clean which I was surprised. The n3 set is 8.8k in the bridge and 8.6k in the neck I believe. Where as the Twisted tele was 7k. They’re a little hotter than I was planning but still stay clean. Surprisingly. I love it.
If you have any suggestions on my plug-the-humbucker-cavity excursion please let me know. I think the conversion ring will fit if we fiddle with it.
I’ll update as I progress!
